2/5/14 House Commissions
I love working within the parameters of a commission. Whether it is a portrait of a person, pet, house, etc. I enjoy the challenge of creating something vibrant and interesting about a subject that someone else has chosen. Here I worked from an image of Tom and Elizabeth Small’s home. I took the photo in January. So, I painted spring landscaping from Elizabeth’s description of their plants and from memory of seeing the flowering greenery. I added my own energy into the image by using a dynamic color palette with high contrasting tonal values.
